“What aspects of the HR function get your blood boiling?”

Finance professionals across the country had several grievances with the HR function. In particular, the slow response of HR to other department’s requirements is the prime bone of contention. Ironically, the HR function is perceived to lack the human touch and initiative to motivate and retain employees. In the misplaced zeal of cutting costs, rather than increasing efficiency, its’ capacity to value and develop the employee resource base is found wanting. Employee retention, it is believed, can be enhanced through focus on job enrichment and a compensation structure based on market norms. A few also commented on HRs inconsistency on parameters such as data-headcount, payroll, attrition rates etc.

The HR function should never lose its’ human touch. Though adherence to rules is essential, HR professionals should not be blind to the social aspect of their role.
